Essilor Stellest Lenses for Myopia Control in Redding
Shasta Professional Eyecare Center is proud to be the only practice in Redding offering Essilor® Stellest® lenses — a groundbreaking spectacle lens technology clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children. If your child’s prescription seems to get stronger every year, Stellest lenses may be the solution you’ve been looking for.
What Are Essilor® Stellest® Lenses?
Stellest lenses are advanced spectacle lenses designed to do two things at once: correct your child’s vision today and slow how fast their myopia progresses over time.
Traditional glasses correct blurry vision but do nothing to address the underlying problem — the continued elongation of the eye that drives myopia. Stellest lenses are different. They use Essilor’s patented H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspheric Lenslet Target) technology, which consists of 1,021 tiny lenslets arranged in 11 rings across the lens. These lenslets create a “volume of myopic defocus” — a signal that tells the eye to slow down its growth.
Clinical Proof: How Effective Are Stellest Lenses?
The Essilor® Stellest® lenses were evaluated in the FDA-registered FIN-3101 clinical trial — a rigorous, randomized, controlled study conducted at nine medical centers across the United States:
- Myopia progression slowed by 71% on average compared to single vision lenses
- Eye growth (axial length) reduced by 53% on average
- Effective across all age groups tested (ages 6–12)
- 91% of children completed the full two-year trial — showing strong wearability
- Results were consistent across children with low and higher levels of myopia
For the youngest children (ages 6–8), progression was slowed by an impressive 89%.
